Chapter 9

"Oh, my God..."

Casey's fingers slowed at their task, the buttons of Eric's crisp linen shirt only half-undone. She had demanded the privilege, never having known the satisfaction of undressing a man. As Eric nibbled at her neck, she had managed to undo two or three of the tricky devils, made all the more difficult because the wildfire ignited by his lips set her hands to an unbearable trembling. His skin was so warm beneath his clothes, his muscles so tight and lean. And the golden hair that curled across his chest so delicious to the touch.

"What's the matter?" Eric mumbled against her neck, his words tickling.

Casey giggled, trying her best to draw in a stabilizing breath. He had pulled her down next to him on the bed, nestled atop those cloud-soft comforters, his hands taking command of her. She felt as if she were melting, her body reduced to a glowing, molten light stoked by the heat of his kiss and the hunger of his hands. She had never known her body could feel like that. Had never anticipated such agonizing delight at another's touch. Practical Casey Phillips was completely at Eric's mercy.

"You have a hairy chest," she managed with a smile, rubbing against him like a cat. Even through the silk of her gown, the feeling thrilled her breasts to a taut attention. She smiled and stretched again, surprised that she could elicit a moan from Eric by the action. "You never told me."

"You seem surprised," he murmured gruffly, his fingers twined in her hair, his lips teasing the base of her throat.

"I usually notice... that kind of thing sooner," she tried to explain. The buttons were all free, and she took to slipping his shirt off over his tight shoulders arms. "But you never get casual enough that I can get a look at your chest."

Eric chuckled, deep in his throat where it vibrated against Casey. "Isn't this casual?"

She placed her hands flat against his belly, running up over the ridges of his ribs, the clean lines of his chest. He was so hard, so angular. The feel of him against her incited more fireworks—more of the molten fire that was turning her insides into mush. "You have a beautiful chest," she murmured, dipping her mouth to it, tasting the throb of his heart. "You should show it off more."

Eric pulled her lips back to his, his eyes hot and possessive. "And you, my lovely Casey, have the most beautiful breasts—" he smiled, pausing to explore them, hand and mouth and gentle teeth, "the most lovely eyes, the most enticing mouth..."

His fingers swept her nipples, dancing over the silk and lace and skin like the tongues of a spreading fire. His lips trailed after, along the edges of her gown, the moist tracks of his kisses leaving her gasping.

Casey's head fell back, her hands up to span the tight expanse of his back. Eric's head was just over her breast, the soft light glinting off his sleek brown hair, glowing off the tanned planes of his chest.
